Power
In our local community there has been a great emphasis and focus to always remember to extol our heavenly Father first when we come into prayer with Him. Even Yeshua, when asked by His disciples how to pray, taught them that one is to begin their prayer by “Hallowing Him” before anything else. We have MANY examples of this throughout our Scriptures. Unfortunately in our society there seems to be more attention on seeking what we can get from the Father, rather than worshipping Him in prayer. There are many ways we worship Him…by the life that we live, through music, our words, etc….but we should also follow the pattern and take the time to extol His many attributes. Our ears will hear it and we will also be continually reminded of the Spirit of Power and wonder of His mighty acts!!! May the Spirit of Power and Strength enable us to remember to give glory where glory is due!!
Psalm 18:1-6
1 “I love You, O YHVH, my strength.”
2 YHVH is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my Elohim, my rock, in whom I take refuge; my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
3 I call upon YHVH, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies.
4 The cords of death encompassed me, and the torrents of ungodliness terrified me.
5 The cords of Sheol surrounded me; the snares of death confronted me.
6 In my distress I called upon YHVH, and cried to my Elohim for help; He heard my voice out of His temple, and my cry for help before Him came into His ears.
In the six verses above, that take less than a minute to read, David’s thoughts concerning His heavenly Father, YHVH are:
1. He loves Him
2. He’s his strength/power
3. He’s his rock
4. He’s his fortress
5. He’s his deliverer
6. He’s his Elohim
7. He’s his rock that he takes refuge in
8. He’s his shield
9. He’s his horn of salvation [idiom for some of the strongest animals that us their horns for defense]
10. He’s his stronghold
Psalm 84:8-11 says,
8 O YHVH Elohim of hosts, hear my prayer; Give ear, O Elohim of Jacob! Selah.
9 Behold our shield [Our protector], O Elohim, and look upon the face of Your anointed.
10 For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand outside. I would rather stand at the threshold of the house of my Elohim than dwell in the tents of wickedness.
11 For YHVH Elohim is a sun [Light…able to see clearly. Another thought is that as the sun scatters it’s light across the earth so shall His protection be.] and shield; YHVH gives grace and glory; no good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly.
Psalm 27:1-3 says,
1 YHVH is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? YHVH is the defense of my life; whom shall I dread?
2 When evildoers came upon me to devour my flesh, my adversaries and my enemies, they stumbled and fell.
3 Though a host encamp against me, my heart will not fear; though war arise against me, in spite of this I shall be confident.
We can be confident that our Creator, through His strength, will guard and keep us and withhold no good thing from those who look to Him!!
Have a blessed and shalom filled day!!
