Power

The power and protection that Yeshua gives His disciples is the same that His Father gave in the Hebrew Scriptures…often referred to as the “Old Testament”.  Today we will see more patterns in Scripture where Yeshua only speaks and does what His Father spoke. Not one word of truth can fall to the ground; therefore, it is true that nothing is “done away with” and it is still valid for today.

Yeshua said in Luke 10:19-20, “19  Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing will injure you. 20  Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are recorded in heaven.” Yeshua was reiterating the Word that was given to the Children of Israel in the wilderness. Notice in all the verses given today, where that power and authority comes from.

Deuteronomy 8:11-18 says, “11 “Beware that you do not forget YHVH your Elohim by not keeping His commandments and His ordinances and His statutes which I am commanding you today; 12  otherwise, when you have eaten and are satisfied, and have built good houses and lived in them, 13  and when your herds and your flocks multiply, and your silver and gold multiply, and all that you have multiplies, 14  then your heart will become proud and you will forget YHVH your Elohim who brought you out from the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. [Into freedom to worship & obey our Creator] 15  He led you through the great and terrible wilderness, with its fiery serpents and scorpions and thirsty ground where there was no waterHe brought water for you out of the rock of flint. 16  In the wilderness He fed you manna which your fathers did not know, that He might humble you and that He might test you, to do good for you in the end[He who endures to the end shall be saved. Matthew 24:13] 17  Otherwise, you may say in your heart, ‘My power and the strength of my hand made me this wealth.’ 18  But you shall remember YHVH your Elohimfor it is He who is giving you power to make wealth, that He may confirm His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

Psalm 91:9-16 says, “9  For you have made YHVH, my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place. 10  No evil will befall you, nor will any plague come near your tent. 11 For He will give His angels charge concerning you, to guard you in all your ways. 12 They will bear you up in their hands, that you do not strike your foot against a stone. 13  You will tread upon the lion and cobra, the young lion and the serpent you will trample down. 14  “Because he has loved Me [Love means loyal to the covenant], therefore I will deliver him; I will set him securely on high, because he has known My name[How do we make His name known? Through our obedience to what He says.] 15  “He will call upon Me, and I will answer himI will be with him in troubleI will rescue him and honor him. 16 “With a long life I will satisfy him and  let him see My salvation [Hebrew word for salvation is Yeshua] .”

It is clear in the verses above that we have been given the Spirit of Power to overcome the power of the enemy and tread over whatever circumstances we may be brought too; but it is also very obvious that we are to always remember to obey and know where that power comes from lest we get puffed up with pride and think it is from our own abilities.  When we have the power and authority we’ve been given in the right place, we then have all of the promises that come with it.

Have a blessed and shalom filled day!!
