T.H. Matheson1st Prayer in Congress

Power

At the time of sending this it is an election year for the United States of America.  It was nothing short of the power and sovereignty of our great Elohim that caused a group of school teachers, farmers and friends to form and defeat the strongest military in the world at the time, and that was Great Britain.  This was a fight for religious freedom and they were given the supernatural strength and power by the Spirit to overcome them and win.  In September 1774 a group of men got together from the thirteen colonies to discuss what was going on with Great Britain.  John Adams wrote to his beloved Abigail and shared that their first meeting began with a two hour prayer session and that they studied four chapters of the Bible.  He wrote to Abigail and said, “Abigail, I must beg you to read Psalm 35.  Read it to your friends, read it to your father. This is the first time that we think we’re going to defeat the British.”  This happened because when these men from the thirteen colonies met, they inquired of YHVH for His direction and His strength, recognizing that they had no power on their own, and they received a rhema word from the Word.

Yes, today, we’re going to look at Psalm 35, but first I must say that I cannot resist mentioning that with the adoption of Ephraim and Manasseh, the sons of Joseph, by Jacob/Israel that we went from twelve tribes to thirteen.  I also cannot resist to go on and say that the numerical value for the Hebrew word for Love which is Ahava, equals thirteen.  Coincidence that our country started with thirteen colonies? I don’t think so at all.  It was the providence and destiny of our Elohim because of the call mandated on this country. When we know our history, we know why we must stand up for righteousness and truth as that is what we were and are called to do!!

In Psalm 35:1-10 everywhere it uses a singular pronoun replace it with a plural pronoun and you will then relate to how the founding fathers of our country internalized this Word.

1.     Contend, O YHVH, with those who contend with me; fight against those who fight against me.

2.     Take hold of  buckler and shield and rise up for my help. [The “shield and buckler” represent the two extremes in personal defensive equipment]

3.     Draw also the spear and the battle-axe to meet those who pursue me; say to my soul, “I am your salvation.” [In the same way spear and battle-axe represent the full range of offensive weaponry.]

4.     Let those be ashamed and dishonored who seek my life; let those be turned back and humiliated who devise evil against me.

5.     Let them be like chaff before the wind, with the angel of YHVH driving them on.

6.     Let their way be dark and slippery, with the angel of YHVH pursuing them.

7.     For without cause they hid their net for me; without cause they dug a pit for my soul.

8.     Let destruction come upon him unawares, and let the net which he hid catch himself; into that very destruction let him fall.”

9.     And my soul shall rejoice in YHVH; it shall exult in His salvation.

10. All my bones will say, “YHVH, who is like You, who delivers the afflicted from him who is too strong for him, and the afflicted and the needy from him who robs him?”

We have just begun to look at the chapter that was a rhema for the men of the thirteen colonies.  They looked to the only true Yah and Father as their source for strength and power to pursue the strongest military in the world at the time in order to worship Him freely!! We will continue the next two days with this chapter.

Have a blessed and shalom filled day!!
