In Acts 4:1-12 it says, “1 As they were speaking to the people, the priests and the captain of the temple guard and the Sadducees [Who do not believe in the resurrection; some go so far as to say they do not believe in an afterlife] came up to them, 2 being greatly disturbed because they were teaching the people and proclaiming in Yeshua the resurrection from the dead. 3 And they laid hands on them and put them in jail until the next day, for it was already evening. 4 But many of those who had heard the message believed; and the number of the men came to be about five thousand. [We’ve touched on this before] 5 On the next day, their rulers and elders and scribes were gathered together in Jerusalem; 6 and Annas the high priest was there, and Caiaphas and John and Alexander, and all who were of high-priestly descent. 7 When they had placed them in the center, they began to inquire, “By what power, or in what name, have you done this?”   [They are asking them, “By what authority have you done this?”  This is speaking of the miracle of the man lame from birth walking…verse 9-10] 8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers and elders of the people, 9 if we are on trial today for a benefit done to a sick man, as to how this man has been made well, 10 let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Yeshua Messiah the Nazarene, whom you crucified, whom Elohim raised from the dead—by this name this man [the former lame man] stands here before you in good health. 11 “He [Yeshua] is the STONE WHICH WAS REJECTED by you, THE BUILDERS, but WHICH BECAME THE CHIEF CORNER stone. [Quoting part of the Scriptures lets them know this is a fulfillment of a Messianic Prophecy] 12 “And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.” [No authority from anywhere else, but through Yeshua, can salvation be accomplished…He IS the only door!!]

In Joel 2:32 the prophet says, “And it will come about that whoever calls on the name of YHVH will be delivered; for on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there will be those who escape, as YHVH has said, even among the survivors whom YHVH calls.” Peter quotes this in Acts 2:21. “ ‘AND IT SHALL BE THAT EVERYONE WHO CALLS ON THE NAME OF YHVH WILL BE SAVED.’”

Acts 10:43 says, “Of Him all the prophets bear witness that through His name everyone who believes in Him [Yeshua] receives forgiveness of sins.”

Matthew 1:21 an angel of YHVH came to Joseph, Mary’s (Myriam’s) husband, and said the following, “She will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Yeshua, for He will save His people from their sins.” The meaning of Yeshua is Salvation.

The IVP commentary says “the term translated “saved” includes making whole (i.e., healing the man).” In years past when studying the word saved, salvation, etc… we discovered that salvation is far reaching in its meaning than what we had originally understood.  It’s being born again or anew, healing in every way…physically, emotionally, spiritually, and it also means deliverance. It’s the total package, so when Peter, who is filled with the Holy Spirit and Power begins testifying about salvation in the Name and Authority of Yeshua, those he was speaking too would understand that it’s all inclusive and therefore it affects their influence greatly over the people and they do not like losing their control!!

So may we understand today, that when we are born again in the name of Yeshua there is a power and authority that comes with it that is not of ourselves but from above; therefore we can be born again, healed and delivered in the mighty NAME OF YESHUA !!
