6th May 2024: Our Daily deLIGHT~2nd Day-Understanding
Understanding
The following verses are from Psalm 49 which the sons of Korah penned. It’s always interesting to read what the sons of Korah wrote. Within their writings you will often hear what they had to stand for when they did not choose to follow their father when he led a rebellion against the leadership. The whole chapter is a great read; however, we’ve chosen the first three verses for today.
Psalm 49:1-3 says, “1 Hear this, all you peoples; listen, all inhabitants of the world, 2 both low and high, rich and poor alike. 3 My mouth will impart wisdom, and the meditation of my heart will bring understanding.”
The sons start this Psalm making it clear that ALL people need to hear what they are about to write. So what is it that we need to hear? Before they say anything else they begin with, “my mouth will impart wisdom and the meditation of my heart will bring understanding. Joshua 1:8 says, “This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success.” The word meditate in the Hebrew means to muse (think), mutter, as in saying it to yourself. When we ponder His Word and His Ways IT is what brings us true understanding. When we meditate on the patterns of how YHVH operates, then what is pleasing to our Creator comes into view, which is what understanding really is…it is seeing clearly the truth.
May we ask ourselves today, “What AM I THINKING about? What IS the MEDITATION of my heart? Joshua has powerful words for the one who MEDITATES and is CAREFUL to do all that is written in the law. Our way will be made prosperous and we will have success. We’re not talking according to the world’s standards of success, but according to the standards of the kingdom of Yah.
Our prayer is that the Spirit of Understanding imparts this to us today!!
Shalom & Blessings,
Tammy
