Understanding

As you read Psalm 119 that David wrote, it becomes very apparent that he loved, as well as had a great understanding, about YHVH’s law.  Every verse contains a derivative of the concepts contained in the law, such as the words commandmentstatuteordinancejudgmentwordprecepts, etc…

An interesting fact about Psalm 119 is that there are 176 verses divided up into twenty-two sets of eight.  Each set is represented by each letter of the Hebrew aleph bet beginning with the first letter of the aleph bet, Aleph and ending with the last letter of the aleph bet…the Tav.  Another interesting fact is that the first word of the verse in each set begins with the Hebrew letter for that set. Today we will read the 22nd set which is represented by the Hebrew letter Tav.  The ancient symbol for this word looks like an angled cross.  It means a sign, to seal or covenant. Because Yeshua hung on that “cross” or torcher stake, we now have access into the eternal covenant with our heavenly Father when we receive Him as the Messiah.

When David wrote this 22nd set of verses he started with requesting his cry to come before YHVH and the cry was to “give me understanding and not just any kind of understanding, but understanding according to His word.  With that in mind let’s explore a few concepts of Psalm 119:169-176 to gain more understanding.

169 Let my cry come before You, O YHVH; give me understanding according to Your word.
170 Let my supplication come before You; deliver me according to Your word.
171 Let my lips utter praise, for You teach me Your statutes.
172 Let my tongue sing of Your word, for all Your commandments are righteousness.
173 Let Your hand be ready to help me, for I have chosen Your precepts.
174 I long for Your salvation, O YHVH, and Your law is my delight.
175 Let my soul live that it may praise You, and let Your ordinances help me.
176 I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek Your servant, for I do not forget Your commandments.

Psalm 18:6 it says, “In my distress I called upon YHVH, and cried to my Elohim for helpHe heard my voice out of His temple, and my cry for help before Him came into His ears.” We can be assured that when we cry out to Him He does hear us.

Psalm 51:14 says, “Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O Elohim, the Elohim of my salvation; then my tongue will joyfully sing of Your righteousness.”

Psalm 119:16 says, “I shall  delight in Your statutesI shall not forget Your word.

When we allow the Spirit of Understanding to come through the Word, it will always guide us into the truth of how to live our life; it will build our faith to better understand our relationship with our loving Creator and Messiah!!

Have a blessed and shalom filled day!!
