3rd December 2023: Our Daily deLIGHT~1st Day-Wisdom

Wisdom
We are continuing in the “Thirty Sayings of the Wise” from the book of Proverbs. Just a reminder that though the word wisdom may not be used, when it is from the Word it is our wisdom.
Saying number 16 is from Proverbs 23:17-21. It says, “17 Do not let your heart envy sinners, but live in the fear of YHVH always. 18 Surely there is a future, and your hope will not be cut off. 19 Listen, my son, and be wise, and direct your heart in the way. 20 Do not be with heavy drinkers of wine, or with gluttonous eaters of meat; 21 For the heavy drinker and the glutton will come to poverty, and drowsiness will clothe one with rags.”
Saying number 20 ties in with number 16. It is from Proverbs 24:1-2, “1 Do not be envious of evil men, nor desire to be with them; 2 For their minds devise violence, and their lips talk of trouble.”
Psalm 37:1-6 says, “1 Do not fret because of evildoers, be not envious toward wrongdoers. 2 For they will wither quickly like the grass and fade like the green herb. 3 Trust in YHVH and do good; dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness. 4 Delight yourself in YHVH; and He will give you the desires of your heart. 5 Commit your way to YHVH, trust also in Him, and He will do it. 6 He will bring forth your righteousness as the light and your judgment as the noonday.”
There are many verses throughout the Scriptures that warn and validate that we are not to envy those who are sinners or desire to be with them. That is not the company we are to keep. Our Creator knows us because He made us, therefore, He knows what will affect and influence us. It shows His love for us to give us these instructions and our love back to Him when we keep them.
The Spirit of Wisdom guides us into all truth if we will heed the words therein!!
