3rd September 2024: Our Daily deLIGHT~3rd Day-Counsel
Counsel
We all need counsel from time to time. He’s given people into our lives that we can trust their wisdom and counsel because they are praying principled people according to the plumb line of the Bible. The only wise counsel is that which comes from the Scripture’s patterns. When we were very young believers, just beginning to read the Word, if it didn’t have the exact scenario that we needed an answer for we would say, “The Bible is silent on that subject” which in turn led us to lean to our own understanding for that decision. Then, our father, who was also our pastor, began to understand the patterns and principles in the Word and from then on he drilled into us the necessity to understand them so that we could see that every answer we need IS actually in the Bible in seed form. In fact the Bible says in 2 Timothy 3:16-17, “16 All Scripture is breathed out by Elohim and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of Elohim may be complete, equipped for every good work.” With this frame work in place, let’s look at some verses through the who, what, where and when grid.
A very familiar Messianic prophecy is Isaiah 9:6-7, it says; “6 For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us, and the government will rest on His shoulders; and His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty Elohim, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. 7 There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness [His Word] from then on and forevermore. The zeal of YHVH of hosts will accomplish this.” YHVH’s kingdom was formed and established and will forever be ruled with justice and righteousness which is His eternal Word. A little nugget to consider: We know there were no punctuations in the Hebrew Scriptures, but there are some ways to tell where the breaks would be. However, sometimes literary license was taken and the translators would insert a comma where their bias was doctrinal. But for the sake of pause today, notice in verse six of the NASB that the comma is not after the word Wonderful. This version, as well as MANY others that I checked, do not put the comma after Wonderful but after Counselor. All versions of the KJV do put the comma after Wonderful as do a few others. While we KNOW our Creator IS WONDERFUL, there is just as much evidence that He’s also called a WONDERFUL COUNSELOR!! And His counsel only comes from His Word, in fact, He is His Word, so that makes His Word a WONDERFUL COUNSELOR!!
We will look at a pattern where Moses’ father-in-law, Jethro, counselled Moses in Exodus 18:19-20 saying, “19 “Now listen to me: I will give you counsel, and Elohim be with you. You be the people’s representative before Elohim, and you bring the disputes to Elohim, 20 then teach [Counseling is a form of teaching] them the statutes and the laws, and make known to them the way in which they are to walk and the work they are to do.”
Moses is an earthly example of what Yeshua’s role would become and what Isaiah spoke to when he prophesied that He would be a WONDERFUL COUNSELOR. In Deuteronomy 18:15 Moses gives a prophetic portend about Yeshua when he said, “YHVH your Elohim will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your countrymen, you shall listen to him [Take His counsel]. Acts 3:17-26 is an Apostolic confirmation to this prophecy.
Psalm 16:7-9 says, “7 I will bless YHVH who has counselled me; indeed, my mind instructs [counsels] me in the night. 8 I have set YHVH continually before me; because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. 9 Therefore my heart is glad and my glory rejoices; My flesh also will dwell securely.” When we read His Word and/or receive counsel based on His word, it is YHVH counselling us.
The Bible isn’t silent on anything that pertains to life and godliness. The key to receiving the Spirit of Counsel from Scripture is to understand that it is through patterns and principles that we get our answers. We have to be careful that we don’t get stuck on the form and method that was used, and understand that within the form and method it teaches us what His desires are for His religious, economic and governmental systems that are now scattered all over the world. We understand that the form and the method is the seed and it has to be planted and grow into fruit and even though the fruit doesn’t look like the seed, the seed is within the fruit. With that understanding, we can then find what the function and the message is and apply it to our lives.
Have a blessed and shalom filled day!!
