Understanding
Last week we looked at the first use of the Hebrew word Binah for Understanding. This week we’re going to look at the first use of the root word for Binah which is Strong’s number 995 Biyn. Its meaning is very similar to Binah but moves more into the prudent and discerning aspect of understanding.
The first and second use of this Hebrew word Biyn is found in Genesis 41:33 & 39. The story of Joseph is one of my favorites. It’s a very prophetic story on many levels and one we would do well to understand. Genesis 41:33, 39-40 says, “33 Now let Pharaoh look for a man discerning [Understanding] and wise, and set him over the land of Egypt. 39 So Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Since Elohim has informed you of all this, there is no one so discerning [Understanding] and wise as you are. 40 “You shall be over my house, and according to your command all my people shall do homage; only in the throne I will be greater than you.”
The patterns and principles that flow from this story are immense and full of meaning for us as believers!! I highly recommend reading through it in the book of Genesis and asking for a Spirit of Understanding. Joseph went through many tests and trials of the faith and as a result, he found much FAVOR everywhere he was placed. He was used to preserving his people, the people of YHVH, as well as the surrounding nations. There are many practical patterns for times of famine that we need to understand as our world is rapidly changing at warp speed. If we can grasp and understand them we will be positioned to be used to spare the people, both spiritually and physically of these times. By submitting to the Spirit of Understanding we will not be uninformed of the things that matter. Joseph knew Elohim and HIS ways and wasn’t caught up in all of the peripheral fruitless discussions around him. That’s a message for us; study the bonafide and the bogus will be clear!!
Next week we will continue in this flow so that we can keep on building our understanding and be prepared.
