Fear of YHVH

Shabbat Shalom!!

On the fourth day of this week we were in 2 Corinthians 5:1-5 talking about the Spirit of YHVH.  Today we’re going back to 2 Corinthians 5 for the Fear of YHVH.

2 Corinthians 5:10-11 says,

10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Messiah, so that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has donewhether good or bad.

11 Therefore, knowing the fear of YHVH, we persuade men, but we are made manifest to Elohim; and I hope that we are made manifest also in your consciences.” [This particular Fear of YHVH has to do with literal fear or dread.  There is a need for this type of a fear of YHVH so that there is the motivation for us to repent when we sin.  This fear helps to keep us in right standing with our Creator.  When we truly understand we are going to stand before Him for everything we have done, it should cause us to reconsider some of the choices that we make.]

Hebrews 12:25-29 says,

25 See to it that you do not refuse Him who is speaking. For if those did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, much less will we escape who turn away from Him who warns from heaven.

26 And His voice shook the earth then, but now He has promised, saying, “YET ONCE MORE I WILL SHAKE NOT ONLY THE EARTH, BUT ALSO THE HEAVEN.” [Everything that can be shaken will be shaken. Haggai 2:6-8.  Mount Sinai shook when He spoke the Torah from there.]

27 This expression, “Yet once more,” denotes the removing of those things which can be shaken, as of created things, so that those things which cannot be shaken may remain[In many places the Scriptures speak of the “wicked” that are taken or removed and the righteous inherit or remain.]

 28 Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shakenlet us show gratitude, by which we may offer to Elohim an acceptable service with reverence and awe [Fear of YHVH];

 29 for our Yah is a consuming fire. [What will be burned up? Wood, hay and stubble.]

These are sobering verses today, but they are LIFE to us IF we truly grab hold of them!!  If we have the appropriate balance of this type of Fear of YHVH along with the Reverence and Awe of YHVHwe will not have to fear the judgment seat of Messiah because we will more than likely be ready to meet Him.

May we have a joyful Shabbat!!
