29th May 2024: Our Daily deLIGHT~2nd Day-Understanding
Understanding
The Spirit of Understanding and Wisdom often walk hand in hand in the Scriptures. It seems like a natural progression if one has wisdom that understanding would be there as well.
Adding to our wisdom, Proverbs 3:13 says, “How blessed is the man who finds wisdom and the man who gains understanding.”
Psalm 119:130 says; “The unfolding of Your Words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple.” This happens when we get in His Word daily and allow it to have its work in our lives. We are then able to rightly discern (another word for understanding) that which is going on in our lives.
2 Timothy 2:4-7 says, “4 No soldier in active service entangles himself in the affairs of everyday life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him as a soldier. 5 Also if anyone competes as an athlete, he does not win the prize unless he competes according to the rules. 6 The hard-working farmer ought to be the first to receive his share of the crops. 7 Consider what I say, for Adonai will give you understanding in everything.” I love the analogies that Paul gives Timothy to train him!! Paul is saying, “Look around Timothy at things in the natural as they will teach you spiritual truths.” A soldier stays away from the affairs of everyday life because it’s required in order to be focused and this in turn will make you a good soldier and it pleases the one who enlisted you. It is YHVH who has enlisted us in His army and we should also keep ourselves unspotted from the world. (James 1:27b) In turn, we do not receive our prize when running the race of life unless we do it according to our Creator’s rules…the Torah is what contains these rules and all things that pertain to life and godliness. Though we learn these things when we look around at the patterns established on the earth, we must ultimately realize that true understanding comes from our heavenly Father. He is the source of it all.
May we each be graced today with the light of His truth and understanding!!
