Understanding

In order for the believer to be a light to nations, we must not be like the nations. Being like the nations is what prevents our lampstand or menorah from shining brightly.  So we could ask the questions: What would prevent the Seven Spirits of YHVH from being lit in our hearts and what lights up our menorah to allow wisdom, understanding, counsel, The Holy Spirit, power, knowledge and fear of YHVH to operate in our lives?  The verses below will give us some answers to these questions.

Job 28:20-28 says…Job speaking;

“20 “Where then does wisdom come from? And where is the place of understanding? 21 “Thus it is hidden from the eyes of all living and concealed from the birds of the sky. 22 “ Abaddon and Death say, ‘With our ears we have heard a report of it.’ 23 “Elohim understands its way, and He knows its place. 24 “For He looks to the ends of the earth and sees everything under the heavens. 25 “When He imparted weight to the wind and meted out the waters by measure, 26  When He set a limit for the rain and a course for the thunderbolt, 27 Then He saw it and declared it; He established it and also searched it out. 28 “And to man He said, ‘Behold, the fear of YHVH, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.’” Job asks the question and then answers it.  Elohim understands where wisdom and understanding are. To find it and walk in it, one must seek Elohim through reverencing Him and departing from evil.  We must eat from the Tree of Life rather than the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.

Psalm 53:1-2 says,

“1  The fool has said in his heart, “There is no Elohim,”  They are corrupt, and have committed abominable injustice; There is no one who does good. 2 Elohim has looked down from heaven upon the sons of men to see if there is anyone who understands, who seeks after Elohim.”This Psalm validates the words of Job.  Corruption, not departing from evil, is one who lacks understanding.  Our Elohim desires to find those who have understanding and seek after Him.  Micah 6:8 gives us a key to this, “He has told you, O man, what is good;

and what does YHVH require of you but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your Elohim?

Matthew 13:23 says,  “And the one on whom seed was sown on the good soil, this is the man who hears [obeys] the word and understands it; who indeed bears fruit and brings forth, some a hundredfold, some sixty, and some thirty.”

1 Timothy 6:3-6 says, “3 If anyone advocates a different doctrine and does not agree with sound words, those of our Master Yeshua Messiah, and with the doctrine conforming to godliness, [The IVP Commentary states that “Sound” means “healthy”; Greek and Roman writers often used medical imagery to describe the spiritual state of people’s souls or beliefs.”] 4 he is conceited and understands nothing; but he has a morbid interest in controversial questions and disputes about words, out of which arise envy, strife, abusive language, evil suspicions, 5 and constant friction between men of depraved mind and deprived of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain. 6  But godliness actually is a means of great gain when accompanied by contentment.”

YHVH is searching for the one who is seeking Him and departing from evil so that He can give to them His Seven Spirits.  When we allow the Spirit of Understanding to operate in our lives, everything is affected for the good because it leads us to continue receiving the rest that is intended for us.

Have a blessed and shalom filled day!!
