Fear of YHVH
Shabbat Shalom!! We look forward to worshipping with the Treasured Ones!!
Today we will continue looking at what the rewards and promises are for those who Fear YHVH.
Psalm 60:4 says, “You have given a banner to those who fear You, that it may be displayed because of the truth.”
The word banner is the Hebrew word Nes and it means a flag, something lifted up, a standard, signal. When we have the proper reverence and fear of YHVH and His Son, He gives us a standard that is displayed because of truth. Banners identify who we are and whose we are!! There are different things in our lives that YHVH has given to us as a standard of truth. The Sabbath, feasts, how we eat, etc….when kept according to the Biblical standard, it is a banner of truth.
Psalm 20:5 says, “We will sing for joy over your victory, and in the name of our Elohim we will set up our banners. May YHVH fulfil all your petitions.” The IVP Commentary says, “Battle flags and standards were used by the military as signalling devices and rallying points for the army or were hung from city walls (see Jer 4:6). Their colors and insignia designated their allegiance and would in many cases have included a symbol of the god(s) who were expected to participate in the battle along with the human forces (see Jer 50:2). Does our standard of living rally the troops to righteousness and symbolize the Elohim we serve or does it send a mixed signal to those we influence and thereby create confusion of what truth is?
Isaiah 11:10-13 says,
“10 Then in that day
The nations will resort to the root of Jesse, [Yeshua is the root of Jesse]
Who will stand as a signal [banner] for the peoples;
And His resting place will be glorious.
11 Then it will happen on that day that YHVH
Will again recover the second time with His hand
The remnant of His people, who will remain,
From Assyria, Egypt, Pathros, Cush, Elam, Shinar, Hamath,
And from the islands of the sea.
12 And He will lift up a standard for the nations
And assemble the banished ones of Israel,
And will gather the dispersed of Judah
From the four corners of the earth.
13 Then the jealousy of Ephraim will depart,
And those who harass Judah will be cut off;
Ephraim will not be jealous of Judah,
And Judah will not harass Ephraim.”
A beautiful ancient liturgical prayer we do every week speaks perfectly to these patterns. It’s called the Keebutz Galooyot. It says, “Sound the great Shofar for our freedom. Raise the banner to gather our exiles and gather us together from the four corners of the earth [N, S, E & W]. Praised are You O YHVH who gathers in the dispersed of Your people, Israel.”
HalleluYah!!! When Yeshua returns and gathers His people, we will not only hear a shofar, but we will also see a BANNER!! For those who Fear YHVH He gives a banner to display the truth and that banner or standard is the life that we live. In the end, He then displays THE banner of truth as He Rallies and Restores the Righteous Remnant back to Himself!!
May we have a joyful Shabbat!!
