1 Kings 2:1-4 says,  

​1 As David’s  time to die drew near, he charged [Commissioned and Counseled] Solomon his son, saying [Counseling],

2 “I am going the way of all the earth. Be strong, therefore, and show yourself a man.

3 Keep the charge [Counsel] of YHVH your Elohim, to walk in His ways, to keep His statutes, His commandments, His ordinances, and His testimonies, according to what is written in the Law of Moses, that you may succeed in all that you do and wherever you turn,

4 so that YHVH may carry out His promise which He spoke concerning me, saying, ‘If your sons are careful of their way, to walk before Me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul,  you shall not lack a man on the throne of Israel.’

Deuteronomy 31:1-9 says,

​1 So Moses went and spoke these words to all Israel.

2 And he said to them, “I am a hundred and twenty years old today; I am no longer able to come and go, and YHVH has said to me, ‘You shall not cross this Jordan.’

3  It is YHVH your Elohim who will cross ahead of you; He will destroy these nations before you, and you shall dispossess them. Joshua is the one who will cross ahead of you, just as YHVH has spoken.

4 YHVH will do to them just as He did to Sihon and Og, the kings of the Amorites, and to their land, when He destroyed them.

5  YHVH will deliver them up before you, and [Counsel is now beginning to be given to them following the promises Moses spoke from YHVH in verses 1-5a.] you shall do to them according to all the commandments which I have commanded you.

6  Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble at them, for YHVH your Elohim is the one who goes with you. He will not fail you or forsake you.”
7 Then Moses called to Joshua and said to him in the sight of all Israel, “Be strong and courageous, for you shall go with this people into the land which YHVH has sworn to their fathers to give them, and you shall give it to them as an inheritance.

8  YHVH is the one who goes ahead of you; He will be with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”[Verses 7-8 is counsel mixed with promises]
9 So Moses wrote this law and gave it to the priests, the sons of Levi who carried the ark of the covenant of YHVH, and to all the elders of Israel.

Many times in Scripture we are given a choice to follow the Spirit of Counsel and do what the Word says.  Along with the counsel or instruction are promises for the ones who follow it. May our hearts be open to the Spirit of Counsel and receive the blessings that come with it!!
