Counsel

Yeshua counsels the seventy that He’s about to send out in pairs.  He gives very specific instructions in how to handle each home or city they come into.  We will look at this account in Luke 10:1-16, “ 1 Now after this Yeshua appointed seventy others, and sent them in pairs ahead of Him to every city and place where He Himself was going to come. 2  And He was saying to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore beseech Adonai of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest. 3  Go; behold, I send you out as lambs in the midst of wolves. 4 Carry no money belt, no bag, no shoes; and greet no one on the way. 5 Whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace be to this house.’ 6  If a man of peace is there, your peace will rest on him; but if not, it will return to you. 7  Stay in that house, eating and drinking what they give you; for the laborer is worthy of his wages. Do not keep moving from house to house. 8  Whatever city you enter and they receive you, eat what is set before you; 9  and heal those in it who are sick, and say to them, ‘The kingdom of Elohim has come near to you.’ 10  But whatever city you enter and they do not receive you, go out into its streets and say, 11 ‘Even the dust of your city which clings to our feet we wipe off in protest against you; yet be sure of this, that the kingdom of Elohim has come near.’ 12  I say to you, it will be more tolerable in that day for Sodom than for that city. 13 “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles had been performed in Tyre and Sidon which occurred in you, they would have repented long ago, sitting in  sackcloth and ashes. 14  But it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon [Considered completely pagan to them in their day] in the judgment than for you. 15  And you, Capernaum, will not be exalted to heaven, will you? You will be brought down to Hades! 16 “The one who listens to you [takes counsel from you] listens to Me [takescounsel from Me], and the one who rejects you rejects Me; and he who rejects Me rejects the One who sent Me.”

Luke 9:46-48 says, “46  An argument started among them as to which of them might be the greatest. 47  But Yeshua, knowing what they were thinking in their heart, took a child and stood him by His side, 48  and said to them, “Whoever receives this child in My name receives Me, and whoever receives Me receives Him who sent Me; for the one who is least among all of you, this is the one who is great.” IVP Commentary says, “Status was a preeminent concern in ancient society; children had none. But Yeshua declares that in Elohim’s sight they [like the child with no status] are like messengers…, who bore the full authorization of the one they represented, so they did not need worldly status. Representatives of someone who had great authority exercised more authority than others who acted on their own.”

Therefore, when we go in the name and authority of Yeshua who had all authority, and we go with His Words and not our own, or in turn, someone brings us counsel from the Word and not their own, there isn’t a need for there to be a long line of credentials before it is received. When we receive the counsel of Scripture, it’s the same as the Master counseling us Himself.

Have a blessed and shalom filled day!!
