Wisdom
From the “Thirty Sayings of the Wise” in the book of Proverbs, we will focus on the Skillful Work concept.
Saying number 6: Proverbs 22:29; “29 Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will stand before kings; He will not stand before obscure men.”
We’ve used Exodus 31 before, but I want to use it today to tie it into Proverbs 22:29 with a different focus. Exodus 31:1-6 “1 Now YHVH spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “See, I [YHVH] have called by name Bezalel, the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah. 3 “I [YHVH] have filled him with the Spirit of Elohim in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all kinds of craftsmanship, 4 to make artistic designs for work in gold, in silver, and in bronze, 5 and in the cutting of stones for settings, and in the carving of wood, that he may work in all kinds of craftsmanship. 6“And behold, I Myself [YHVH] have appointed with him Oholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan; and in the hearts of all who are skillful I [YHVH] have put skill, that they may make all that I [YHVH] have commanded you:”
Every ability and skill we have comes from our Creator, YHVH and is to be used for His glory. We must be careful to keep our thoughts free from thinking that it is within our own strength that we are gifted in the areas we’ve been given; and may our abilities never be misused or for evil intent. Give Yah the glory and we get the joy!!
Ecclesiastes 2:21 says, “When there is a man who has labored with wisdom, knowledge and skill, then he gives his legacy to one who has not labored with them. This too is vanity and a great evil.” We must be wise to prepare those who are along side of us to walk diligently in the skills they’ve been given so that they will be able to take the reins when the time comes.
Colossians 2:23-24 says, “23 Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for Adonai rather than for men, 24 knowing that from Adonai you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Master Yeshua whom you serve.”
2 Peter 1:10-11; 10 Therefore, brethren, be all the more diligent to make certain about His calling and choosing you; for as long as you practice these things, you will never stumble; 11 for in this way the entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Master and Savior Yeshua Messiah will be abundantly supplied to you.
Have a blessed and shalom filled day!!
