Power
Yeshua was crucified on Nisan 14 and died at three o’clock in the afternoon, which is exactly when the Torah states the Passover lamb is to be sacrificed. When you count three days and three nights as Yeshua said, this makes Nisan 17 the third day from the crucifixion and the day Yeshua resurrected. The power that was demonstrated through the resurrection is ongoing through the salvation that it brings to the world. Without the resurrection of Yeshua we would be lost and without the power to overcome from death unto life. If we are in Yeshua, we, too, will be resurrected by the power of YHVH, should we not be alive and remain at His return. But we don’t have to wait until then to experience the Spirit of Power in our lives. Yeshua’s death, burial and resurrection accomplished all that was required to draw us near, we can now apply the power afforded to us as believers and be resurrected from the death that addictions or circumstances have brought to our lives.
Paul says in Romans 1:1-6, 16-17; “1 Paul, a bond-servant of Messiah Yeshua, called as an apostle, set apart for the gospel of Elohim, 2 which He promised beforehand through His prophets in the holy Scriptures, 3 concerning His Son, who was born of a descendant of David according to the flesh, 4 who was declared the Son of Elohim with power by the resurrection from the dead, according to the Spirit of holiness, Yeshua Messiah our Master, 5 through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith among all the Gentiles for His name’s sake, 6 among whom you also are the called of Yeshua Messiah; 16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of Elohim for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek [an idiom implying from one end of the spectrum to the other]. 17 For in it [the gospel] the righteousness of Elohim is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “BUT THE RIGHTEOUS man SHALL LIVE BY FAITH.””
1Corinthians 1:18, 22-24 says;“18 For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of Elohim. 22 For indeed Jews ask for signs and Greeks search for wisdom; 23 but we preach Messiah crucified, to Jews a stumbling block and to Gentiles foolishness, 24 but to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks, Messiah the power of Elohim and the wisdom of Elohim.”
The IVP Commentary states:
“Greeks believed that some gods had died and returned (usually they were vegetation deities who returned annually), but they relegated this belief to ancient myth and sometimes even allegorized the myths. Romans regarded crucifixion as a death appropriate for slaves; Israelites also saw it as shameful (Deut 21:23). Those viewed as “saviors” were normally gods, kings, wealthy benefactors or miracle workers. Roman society was built around power and status; power was concentrated in the male head of the household, in wealthy and aristocratic families, and so forth. Associating power with a crucified man-the epitome of weakness-thus made no more sense to ancients than it does to modern people outside Messiah.”
Once again we see how YHVH takes what is weakness to the world and demonstrates His great power!!! What is foolishness to them is wise to Him!! While we may experience the power of the resurrection in our spiritual lives, one day we will experience it in the natural at the Messiah’s return. May we be found watching and waiting!!
Have a blessed and shalom filled day!!
