Rembrandt “Simeon and Anna Recognize the Lord in Jesus” c. 1627
Spirit of YHVH
As a friend and I were talking and sharing the Word on the phone, she mentioned about Simeon in the Scripture below as it was a pattern for the conversation we were involved in. I began to read it out loud on the phone and the Holy Spirit fell all over us as the words began to jump off the page. You know, that excitement where you begin to talk over each other because the joy was overwhelming!!! It’s exciting when the Spirit makes known and allows you to recognize patterns and principles in His Word and reminds you that He NEVER changes!! So, our faith can be built and we can KNOW, that just as He revealed to those at Yeshua’s first coming that He is the One they’ve been looking for, He will also make known to us, by His Spirit, the revelation of the day we’re in and the time of His return. May the Holy Spirit enlighten our hearts as we read the account of what took place eight days after Yeshua’s birth at His circumcision and see the patterns for His second coming.
Luke 2:21-40 says,
21 And when eight days had passed, before His circumcision, His name was then called Yeshua [Hebrew for Salvation], the name given by the angel before He was conceived in the womb. [To this day, at a Brit Milah/Covenant of Circumcision ceremony on the eighth day, the “giving of the name” takes place with a blessing.]
22 And when the days for their purification according to the law of Moses were completed, they brought Him up to Jerusalem to present Him to the YHVH
23 (as it is written in the Law of the YHVH, “Every firstborn male that opens the womb shall be called holy [set apart] to YHVH”),
24 and to offer a sacrifice according to what was said in the Law of the YHVH, “A pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons.” [This type of offering given reveals that they were financially poor. Leviticus 12:8]
25 And there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon; and this man was righteous and devout, looking for the consolation of Israel; and the Holy Spirit was upon him.
26 And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen YHVH’s Messiah.
27 And he came in the Spirit into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Yeshua, to carry out for Him the custom of the Law,
28 then he [Simeon] took Him [Yeshua] into his arms, and blessed Elohim, and said,
29 “Now YHVH, You are releasing Your bond-servant to depart in peace, according to Your word;
30 For my eyes have seen Your salvation [This word is Yeshua in the Hebrew.],
31 Which You have prepared in the presence of all peoples,
32 A Light of revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of Your people Israel.”
33 And His father and mother were amazed at the things which were being said about Him.
34 And Simeon blessed them and said to Mary His mother, “Behold, this Child is appointed for the fall and rise of many in Israel, and for a sign to be opposed—
35 and a sword will pierce even your own soul—to the end that thoughts from many hearts may be revealed.”
36 And there was a prophetess, Anna the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was advanced in years and had lived with her husband seven years after her marriage,
37 and then as a widow to the age of eighty-four. She never left the temple, serving night and day with fastings and prayers.
38 At that very moment she came up and began giving thanks to Elohim, and continued to speak of Him to all those who were looking for the redemption of Jerusalem. [The Greek word here for speak is used six times as preach in the Scriptures.]
39 When they had performed everything according to the Law of the YHVH, they returned to Galilee, to their own city of Nazareth.
40 The Child continued to grow and become strong, increasing in wisdom; and the grace of Elohim was upon Him.
Did you happen to notice that the Scripture mentions both a male, Simeon, and a female prophetess, Anna, being used by the Holy Spirit to proclaim that the Messiah has come for the redemption of Israel and the Gentiles? Another pattern that both male and female were used by the Spirit for the blessings and announcement of Yeshua’s coming. Another pattern of who and what is used for the reproduction of the kingdom to take place. In the restoration of all things, we see this area of male and female being restored in proper order as the return of Yeshua draws near. May it be soon and in our day!!
Have a blessed and shalom filled day!!
