Wisdom

It’s commonly known that the book of Proverbs is considered the Book of Wisdom; but did you know that within the book of Proverbs there’s a section called the “Thirty Sayings of the Wise” and they are numbered in sections?  Not all versions of Scripture have it segmented, but several do.  These thirty sayings run from Proverbs 22:17-24:22.

Today will begin a journey of going through these Thirty Sayings of the Wise, though not necessarily in order.  The Scripture IS our wisdom and covers all things that pertain to life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3).  So though the word wise or wisdom may not be in the verses, what it’s telling us concerning each topic IS wisdom for us if we apply it.

I had these verses waiting in the wings to use when I realized that they were the twenty-sixth saying of the wise.  Twenty-six is the numerical value for the name of YHVH. We’ve been seeing that everywhere!!  Let’s now explore the twenty-sixth saying of the wise…Proverbs 24:13-14; 13 Eat honey, my son, for it is good; honey from the comb is sweet to your taste. 14  Know also that wisdom is like honey for you: If you find it, there is a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off.”

These two short verses are packed with power when we ponder them for their depth.  Most find pleasure in the flesh to eat something sweet, but not so much in eating things that will nourish our soul.  But this twenty-sixth saying of the wise is telling us that wisdom should be as sweet to us as honey.  That should be our paradigm and response to seeking and walking in the Spirit of WisdomIf we will seek wisdom there is a future hope for us, if we don’t seek for it our hope will be cut off.  We are told in Proverbs 13:12 that, Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but desire [Hope] fulfilled is a tree of life.”

What is the Tree of Life?  The Word.  When we “eat” Yah’s wisdom from the Word it is then sweet Nourishment for our soul!!
