Understanding
In Isaiah 41 the prophet is encouraging the people of Elohim that if they will repent and return and remain faithful to the covenant and do all that YHVH requires, He will lead them back to Himself. Our Heavenly Father and Creator goes to great lengths to encourage us to righteousness and understanding so that we do not remain separated from His presence. He gives us the insights [understanding] that we need to make our changes; but we have to follow through in order to receive that which He promises to us. As we read the verses for today may the Spirit of Understanding open our eyes that we may behold wonderful things in His Torah [Psalm 119:18].
Isaiah 41:8-10, 13-16, 17-20 says,
8 “But you, Israel, My servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, descendant of Abraham My friend, [When Yeshua is our Messiah we are now part of the chosen, the seed of Abraham. Galatians 3:16, Ephesians 2:11-19]
9 You whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, and called from its remotest parts and said to you [Gathering His people together…not scattering], ‘You are My servant, I have chosen you and not rejected you.
10 ‘Do not fear, for I am with you; do not anxiously look about you, for I am your Elohim. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’
13 “For I am YHVH your Elohim, who upholds your right hand, who says to you, ‘Do not fear, I will help you.’
14 “Do not fear, you worm Jacob, you men of Israel; I will help you,” declares YHVH, “and your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel. [Repeats several times that He upholds us with His right hand and we are not to fear for He will help us.]
15 “Behold, I have made you a new, sharp threshing sledge with double edges; you will thresh the mountains and pulverize them, and will make the hills like chaff.
16.“You will winnow them, and the wind will carry them away, and the storm will scatter them; but you will rejoice in YHVH, you will glory in the Holy One of Israel.
17 “The afflicted and needy are seeking water, but there is none, and their tongue is parched with thirst; I, YHVH, will answer them Myself, as the Elohim of Israel I will not forsake them.
18 “I will open rivers on the bare heights and springs in the midst of the valleys; I will make the wilderness a pool of water and the dry land fountains of water.
19 “I will put the cedar in the wilderness, the acacia and the myrtle and the olive tree; I will place the juniper in the desert together with the box tree and the cypress,
20 That they may see and recognize, and consider and gain insight as well [All of these are synonyms to the Spirit of Understanding], that the hand of YHVH has done this, and the Holy One of Israel has created it.
The promises intended for His people are:
- We are chosen
- Not rejected
- Gathered together from all over the earth
- We’re not to fear or be anxious
- YHVH is with us
- YHVH will strengthen us
- YHVH will help us
- YHVH will uphold with His righteous right hand
- YHVH has made us new, sharp threshing sledge with double edges for threshing [This was a tool used to separate the wheat from the chaff. Remember the wheat is gathered in the barn, the chaff is burned up. Matthew 3:12]
- We will winnow the enemy and the wind [the Ruach/Spirit] will carry them away
- We will rejoice and glory in the Holy One of Israel
- YHVH will not forsake those who thirst…we shall be satisfied/filled [Matthew 5:6]
- We will see, recognize, consider and gain insight [have the Spirit of Understanding] that YHVH has done all of this
Have a blessed and shalom filled day!!
