12th December 2023: Our Daily deLIGHT~3rd Day-Counsel

Counsel
Instruction and counsel, in concept, are very closely related, if not the same thing. Even when these specific words are not used, if we are being guided in the Word concerning an area of life, it is counsel for us. Below we will look at verses of Scripture that starts with the truth that a wise heart instructs or counsels his mouth. This means the words that we speak. Why? Because words create. We see this in Genesis 1:3 when Elohim spoke, “Let there be light”; there was light. We were created in the image and likeness of Elohim, therefore, we are to have the same attributes. By His design we are mini creators and we see this by the fact that mankind is able to conceive and birth children. Just as He spoke and light came into existence, we are also told in Proverbs 18:21 that life and death are in the power of the tongue or the spoken word. What are our words creating in our homes and the community around us? Are we tearing others down or are we soothing to their soul? How about what we tell ourselves? This is important as well because we could be sabotaging our own lives when we don’t see ourselves the way YHVH sees us; in turn we speak negatively concerning ourselves. We then walk accordingly. This is the scope of our deLIGHT for today. We are not disregarding that sometimes we are part of a situation that needs to be handled with those within the situation. We do this in order to get back to right relationships. A pattern we can apply to this is from the beginning when the world was without form and void. This is often translated to say that it was in chaos. When Elohim spoke, the world came into order. Our words can either bring order or chaos to our circumstances. How will we choose to use the gift of speech we’ve been given?
Proverbs 16:23-24 says, “23 The heart of the wise instructs his mouth and adds persuasiveness [In the Hebrew this is learning] to his lips. 24 Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.”
Proverbs 15:28 says, “The heart of the righteous ponders how to answer, but the mouth of the wicked pours out evil things.” [It’s important that we weigh how our words are going to affect others. We may feel better or justified, but leave others in the wake of dealing with our careless words. The Spirit of Counsel can guide us if we will pray and ponder before we pounce into a given situation with our opinion.]
Psalm 37:30 says, “The mouth of the righteous utters wisdom, and his tongue speaks justice.”
Matthew 12:33-37 says, “33 Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for the tree is known by its fruit. 34 You brood of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak what is good? [Notice: this is a question.] For the mouth speaks out of that which fills the heart. 35 The good man brings out of his good treasure what is good; and the evil man brings out of his evil treasure what is evil. 36 But I tell you that every careless word that people speak, they shall give an accounting for it in the day of judgment. 37 For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”
If we really understood the words of Yeshua in the verses above we would be far more careful before we speak. It’s a surreal thought to know that we are going to give an accounting for every idle word we utter. Today, may we hear the voice within the voice, the Spirit of Counsel, and receive and be a life-giving spirit to soothe the soul of those around us, as well as to ourselves.
